Snapping windows and desktops

Drag a window to the left or right edge of the screen to fill half of it, or to the top to maximise it. Let go when the outline appears.

Hover over a window’s maximise button, or press Windows + Z, to pick a layout: two side by side, three columns, a large one with two small, and so on. Click the space you want the window in.

Hold Alt and tap Tab to move through your open windows, and let go on the one you want. Windows programs from Windows mode are in the list like everything else.

Press Windows + Tab to see every window and desktop at once, and add a desktop to keep, say, work and home apart.

All of this is in Settings > System > Multitasking:

  • Snap windows: turn dragging to the edges on or off.
  • Show snap layouts: the layouts on the maximise button and Windows + Z.
  • Show windows from all desktops in Alt+Tab, or only the current one.
  • Desktops: add, rename and remove desktops.
