How updates work
Wild OS keeps itself up to date without getting in your way. Security fixes install quietly in the background, and anything that needs a restart waits for you.
Automatic security updates
Section titled “Automatic security updates”Wild OS checks for updates once a day. With Install security updates automatically on, which it is unless you change it, security fixes install by themselves.
Every update is signed, and checked against the Wild OS and Debian keys before it installs, so nobody can slip something in on the way.
The Updates page
Section titled “The Updates page”Open Settings > Updates to see where things stand.
- Check now looks for updates straight away.
- Ready to install lists what’s waiting. Choose Install now to install it.
- Recently installed shows what changed, with a What’s new link.
- App updates takes you to the Store for apps. See the Store.
Restarts
Section titled “Restarts”Wild OS will never restart in the middle of your work. Under When a restart is needed, choose:
- Ask me first: Wild OS tells you a restart is needed. Choose Restart now, or Schedule restart to pick a time.
- Restart when no one is signed in: Wild OS restarts by itself at 3am, but only if nobody is signed in.
Update channels
Section titled “Update channels”Wild OS has two channels, Stable and Beta. See stable and beta.
