USB devices
A USB device can be more than it looks. A stick or cable can pretend to be a keyboard and type commands the moment it’s plugged in. Wild OS can hold back new USB devices until you say they’re OK.
Turning it on
Section titled “Turning it on”In Settings > Privacy and security, turn on Block new USB devices. Anything new you plug in then stays switched off until you allow it from the shield on the taskbar.
Allowing a device
Section titled “Allowing a device”When a device is held back, the shield on the taskbar says so, for example 1 USB device is blocked.
- Click the shield, then Review.
- Blocked USB devices lists what’s waiting, with its name.
- Choose Allow once for a device you recognise, or Keep blocked.
Only allow devices you recognise. If something you didn’t plug in, or didn’t expect, appears in the list, keep it blocked.
Only an administrator can allow USB devices. If you’re a standard user, Wild OS says Only an administrator can allow USB devices.
At Strict and Maximum
Section titled “At Strict and Maximum”At the Strict and Maximum protection levels, devices already plugged in when the computer starts need your OK as well.
