I can't unlock the disk
When Wild OS starts, it asks for your disk password before anything else. If it isn’t accepted, the prompt comes back so you can try again.
Check the obvious first
Section titled “Check the obvious first”- Caps Lock. Passwords are case sensitive.
- The keyboard layout. The password is typed on the layout you chose in the installer. If that wasn’t your keyboard’s layout, some keys, such as
@,"and£, print something different. Try typing them where they’d be on the layout you chose. - The number pad. If your password has numbers, try the number keys along the top instead, or press Num Lock.
Use your recovery key
Section titled “Use your recovery key”If you’ve forgotten the password, type your recovery key at the same prompt, including the hyphens, and press Enter. It unlocks the disk just like the password.
Once you’re in, you can keep using the computer as normal.
If you have neither
Section titled “If you have neither”Without the disk password or the recovery key, nobody can unlock the disk, not even us. That’s what keeps your files safe from anyone who takes the computer. The only way to use the computer again is to install Wild OS afresh, which erases what was there.
If you installed alongside Windows, Windows isn’t encrypted by Wild OS and still starts from the start-up menu.
